Beach Wedding with semi-formal dress code
Our editor-in-chief Toni takes us along to a Beach Wedding in Forte dei Marmi and shares her handmade wedding outfits, most of them available at sisterMAG Patterns, and how the couple celebrated at the beach.

This celebration was long time in the making. Not only because Covid threw a spanner in the planner, but the couple already got married 10 years ago with a very small ceremony but never got round to the big party they wanted to have. Now 10 years and 2 kids later, they celebrated in the best way possible: in Italy’s La Versilia coast at the beach. The guests were an international mix of friends and family from all over Europe with nearly as many kids as adults. The wedding planner considered this and put a special program together for all the younger attendees. For the older guests a two-day event was put on in Forte dei Marmi, the fashionable beach town in Northern Tuscany. The place they chose is the Augustus Hotel & Resort which is frequented by the likes of Chiara Ferragni, die most famous Italian influencer.
We arrived on Friday, the day before the wedding celebration started and used the time to explore the little places along the Versilia coast. We were especially elated by Pietrasanta which has the nicest little restaurants, a lot of art galleries and great shops. We also saw right away that riding your bike is the thing to get around at the La Versilia: young and old in summery clothes with their bag in the front basket. Thus, we took our bike to get to the Welcoming dinner on Saturday Evening which took place at Filippo – a Trattoria in Fortemarmino style. As Alex and I knew very few people we used the evening getting to know many new people. After a very tasty dinner, the highlight of the evening was the cake served with its own little firework. We cycled home happily through the balmy summer nights at the Tuscan coast.
Sunday started off with a Brunch at the Bambachill Beach Garden of the Augustus Hotel, a place made for a casual garden set-up. You just wanted to sit in the shadowy garden nip at your freshly made lemonade and soak in the atmosphere. Dinner and Party in the evening took place at the Augustus Beach Club. If you see inspiration on Pinterest about beach weddings, this is the place where pictures are shot. The whole set-up with big sun sails that cover the area like a tent, thousands of fairy lights and the beach area with a picturesque sunset was beautiful. My favourite part: Me dancing to 2000s songs with an Espresso Martini in my hand – as Alex put it: the best advertising for my heart surgeon ;-)
