Demel – A real royal confectioner

Since 1786, the royal confectioner Demel has been providing Vienna with sugary delicacies. The confectionery Mendl and their speciality, the wonderfully fluffy Courtesans au Chocolat, play an important role in the movie Grand Budapest Hotel. In this issue, our hunt for the real-life version of the bakery in the movie led us to Vienna (where else?).
