DIY “Felt Table Garland”

Create a wonderful felt table garland that adds a special touch to the festive table at any time of the year. DIY and photos by Darlene Brink.

Felt Table Garland

– 8 Sheets of Felt
– Cutting Mat
– Rotary Cutter
– Omni Grid (or Ruler)
– Glue Gun
– Scissors
– Sewing Machine (optional)

1.) Cut 8 strips from one and a half of the felt sheets. The strips can be 1 1/2 to 2 inches wide. Using a rotary cutter and a cutting mat makes the process quicker and the cutting lines straighter. Making a cut against the side of an Omni grid (clear ruler in various sizes often used for quilting makes it easy for cutting with a rotary cutter).

2.) Cut various sizes of leaves. Once I found a few sizes that I liked I would use them for a pattern to cut more from. Cut around 90 leaves.

3.) Use a sewing machine to stitch the strips for the base together.

4.) Using the glue gun, place a dab of glue at the base of the leaf then pinched it together to get a 3D effect. Then, glue one side of the leaf to the long base. To give a fuller effect to the felt leaf garland, glue leaves on both sides of the felt base.
