From the Crystal Palace to the Eiffel Tower: Iron as building material
No other material changed the architecture and structural engineering of the Industrial Age as fundamentally as iron. Until today, iconic buildings like the Eiffel Tower are shaping the urban topography of European cities. A little journey to Paris and London sketches the cultural history of iron during the 19th century.
