Apples in myths and fairy tales

The apple has always been rich in symbolism. While it appears as an ominous or even dangerous object in many of  the old myths and fairy tales – just think of Snow White or the very beginning of human narration, the fall of mankind, caused by Adam and Eve – it can also stand for something completely different, like a person’s power for example. After all it is not for nothing that there are so many proverbs and sayings in which the apple plays an important role.
