Jersey is not  a certain fabric but a collective term for many knitted or machine-knitted soft, warm and elastic materials. What could have been more reasonable than using the abundant sheep’s wool to knit warm sweaters for the fishermen? »Jersey« was born but unknown and undesired by big fashion.
